The Power Of: Part II - Truth

In these, my darkest of days, I have to wonder...if anyone involved in my life the last 12 months had just spat out just a little truth, would I even be close to where I am right now?

Truth.  The truth of things.  Truth in advertising.  Truth in politics.  And the Truth shall set you free.  "I want the Truth"..."You can't HANDLE the Truth!!"  Damned straight, those words.  No one tells the truth anymore  Everyone lies to everyone.  4-6 year olds.  That's about it, as truth-sayers go.  Oh, and George Carlin.  And me.

We lie to ourselves, each other, to our kids, to our mates, to our teachers, to our God, to our bosses and co-workers, and to our country.  We are the most dishonest beings on the face of the planet.  Why?  Because none of us...with the exception of a select few, can handle being told the truth, or telling it either.  Truth, in and of itself, is almost extinct.  I don't think people know how to tell the truth anymore.  It's a dying art.

But again, these are supposed to be positive posts.  Here are the bonuses, then, of spitting out the truth:

1.  You don't have to analyze every, little, single, solitary, thing you say; before you say it.
2.  Relief.  A very large side-effect of telling the truth.
3.  The follow-up sleep is PHENOMENAL!!
4.  You aren't stuck coming up with good enough lies for everything, or coming up with more lies to cover up or coincide with the first ones, relieving your brain of trying to remember everything you lied about to begin with.

Lies breed hate, distrust, fear, hurt and pain.  Truth breeds trust, love, faith, honesty and freedom.  I dunno kids...isn't this a no-brainer?

The light of truth is something we seriously lack in our present day.  Lying to ourselves is preached as a good thing.  A positive self-image...even if we don't have a good one to tell ourselves about.  Lying to others is commonplace and normal.  Lies in the news are expected.  Lying to our people, where politicians are concerned, is almost encouraged.  Lying in business and advertising aren't even close to jailable offenses.  We are a nation founded, built, and dying because of lies.  For shame, America.  What are we thinking?

The power of truth is life.  The wages of lies is death.  Vote for truth.  Tell the truth.  Screw our feelings...they've been hurt before.  Doesn't it feel better, now that you know it?  Didn't it feel better to tell it?  Then why must we continue to promote lying?  To teach our children to lie the minute they start talking?  To put liars in office?  Don't you understand?  THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE, as well as keep you that way.  Lies are chains that drag us faster into an early grave.  No more lies.  No more bullshit.  Stop the lies now.  In your families.  In your schools.  In your business.  In your government, and maybe, just maybe, hope will soon follow.
